Bechamel sauce

Bechamel is the basic white sauce for a multitude of recipes

Ingredients:
Onion (medium) – [1]
Butter – [3 tablespoons]  (45 ml.)
Flour (whole wheat ) – [3 tablespoons]  (45 ml.)
Milk – [2 cups]  (500 ml.)
Ground Nutmeg – [1/4 tablespoon]  (4 ml.)
Salt & Pepper to taste

 

Steps:
1- In a saucepan, melt butter.
2- Add the flour. Cook 2 minutes while stirring.
3- Add milk and onion. Cook 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly.
4- Add the seasonings.
5- Serve immediately or cool and reserve for later use.
